Understanding the impact of Mental Health & Addiction on Individuals and their Families

A free 2-hour workshop presenting evidence-based information from the lived experience perspective about mental ill-health, addiction and recovery, including what it’s like and what helps. This workshop is for people with lived experience, interested community members, and professionals seeking to improve their understanding of lived experience perspectives. (There is no requirement to identify your reason for attending).

Session includes:

  • 3 x NT lived experience advocates sharing their stories of recovery
  • The relationship between mental ill-health, trauma and addiction (alcohol, drugs, gambling, gaming, etc.)
  • Ways to promote recovery and healing
  • Why families need support too and ways to support families to cope
  • An opportunity to find out about our peer programs Recovery Together and Circles of Support

Workshop Format

Each workshop is the same and will be 2 hours in duration. The workshop will be presented in two formats, face-to-face in Katherine and online.

Katherine Workshops
All face-to-face workshops will be held at the Flinders Training Room, Katherine Hospital (opposite ED).

Online Workshops
All online workshops will be hosted using zoom. The online meeting details will be emailed to you after you register. You do not need a zoom account to participate (you can join as a guest), however you will require data / access to the internet. A screen larger than your phone will enhance your experience (e.g. tablet or laptop), but is not essential.
